Stroke

                                              Stroke

Hello friends and welcome back to my blog. We are on Hurumanu 6 and our topic is on Health Crisis. We all had to choose a different topic. I chose stroke because my grandfather was affected by it and he sadly passed away. I learned a lot from this topic. And we all learn something new every day. We have been working on these topics for 6 weeks. We have had a long time. You might learn something new from this slide.

I hope you enjoy this. My slide will share with you what a stroke is? the symptoms of a stroke, who it could affect, the treatment,  and pictures of what it looks like. Now a lot of people have had a stroke. Thank you so much for reading my blog and I hope you have a nice rest of your day.

Science

                                         Melting ice

Kia Ora welcome back to my blog. Today our class was doing an experiment on melting ice. We were given a choice of objects, rubber gloves, rubber pieces, form pieces, and tin foil. I chose the glove we were also given a stopwatch for us to time how long it takes to melt the ice.

It took me a while to melt my ice the only rule was to keep the ice on your object. My total time was 13 minutes in total. It took me ages.  I held my ice over the sink. I would say that tin foil melted the ice way faster. Thank you for reading my blog.

Anne Frank

                                       Anne Frank

Hello, friends welcome back to my blog for a few weeks now we have been reading g a book that was written by Anne Frank. This book tells the story of how Anne went into hiding for 2 years. This is not really a story it is a diary that Anne wrote down like she was talking to someone. On her 12th birthday, Anne got her Diary and she started writing in it when she was 14 she sadly passed away.  Anne did not really have anyone to talk to and she really did not feel comfortable sharing her feelings with anyone.

Anne went into hiding because her sister Margo got a letter saying she was being called up to concentration camps. In the Annex, Anne had no space and she had to share a room with Mr. Dussal, Anne also did not have that much conation with her mother. Anne has been stuck in the Annex for 2 years straight and hasn't seen the day of light in a long time. She also struggles to sleep at night because of the gunshots and bombs.

I really did enjoy the story because it is a true story and it really does show how Anne was feeling and it is a beautiful story I did learn a lot from the story. I learned that Hilter wanted to kill all the Jews. I also learned that the Jews don't celebrate Christmas. Thank you for reading my blog.

Christchurch earthquakes

                                    Christchurch earthquakes

Kia Ora and welcome back to my blog. For a few weeks now we have been working on a project. Our topic is Christchurch earthquakes, now they have been lots of big earthquakes and small earthquakes in Christchurch. The earthquake we are studying in the 2011 earthquake. If you live in Aotearoa you might have heard about the 2011 earthquake.

The 2010 earthquake was way bigger than the 2011 earthquake by magnitude and the 2011 one has more damage and deaths. Here is a slide that I researched some info and put it into my own words. Some of the buildings are still being built. Thank you so much for taking the time to read my blog. Comment if you know any big earthquakes down below.

Fun run

Kia Ora welcome back to my blog, last Wednesday we had a big fun run. So our school has been planing on a few things we can do as a school. And we figured out to plan a fun run where we have colors and water. We had lots of fun. This was mostly planned out by Whaea Kana the couch. We are raising money for Kids Can, Kids Can is a fantastic company that helps schools and students with their uniforms, shoes, food, stationery, and many more. So we wanted to pay back for what they have done for us.  Our aim is to raise $5000. That would mean $500 a class. Our class has raised $500.99 and more.

We were told to bring a white t-shirt if you wanted to color on you if did not want the color you had to wear lots of color on the day. I bought a white t-shirt of course.  They were a police car, drinks, color, water, optical. It was one of the best days of the year. All the students had fun and we really hope it happens next year.

Proteste

Kia ora welcome back to my blog. Every week we are given a topic to work on in hurumanu 1. This week we are working protest. What is a protest? a protest is standing up for what you think is right. We all have opinions and they all matter. We are only given  3 to 4 hours to work on one topic, this week we were given 4 hours and 4 days. so we are so lucky. For our topic, we have been given activities to finish and topics to research. I put all my information onto a slide and I don't think I tried my best.

The Gold Rush

                                    The Gold Rush

In 1861 Gold was discovered near the Tuapeka River, thousands of people raced to center Otago. People from different towns moved to remote spots where people never lived. They all shared the same hope, to get rich. The Otago Goldrush began with Gabrial Read. Gabrial read was a experienced gold miner.

One day Gabrial spotted gold in his gold pan, he then said "shining like the stars in Orion on a dark frosty night". The greek then was maned as Gabriels Gully. By Christmas 1861 there were more than 10 thousand protesters in Gabrial gully. Miners had to follow a rough road to get to Gabriel's gully. Once they had to live in tents some lived in shanks, miners even lived in caves.

Discrimination is when someone is treated unfairly or being judge by their characters, the color of their skin, their age, their religion, and things

I think a gold rush is when gold is found in a new spit where no one has looked before. I also think discrimination is when someone is being racist.

Daylight saving

Kia Ora friends. Welcome back to my blog. Hope you have had a great day. Today in homeroom our task was to research daylight saving. As you may know, I live in the beautiful country of Aotearoa. We begin our daylight saving at 2:00 am Sunday, 27 September, and end on Sunday, 4 April 2021. George Huson was a entomologist from New Zealand, came up with the modern concept of daylight saving time.

1. When does daylight saving happen each year? In New Zealand Daylight saving starts on 27th September and end 4 April 2021.

2. What year did it start in NZ? Daylight saving started 1927

3.Why was daylight saving started? So farmers could have more time and light to look after their crops.

4. Should Daylight saving continue?  No please no. We have to wake up one hour late.

5. Do all the states in Austrailer have daylight savings? Not all the states in Austrailier have daylight saving
States that do:
New South Wales ,Victoria, South Australia, Tasmania, Norflolke island.

States that don't:
Queensland, Northen Terrioty, Western Australia.

6. What will help you during daylight saving?

-Set your alarm  if you wanna wake up early.
-If you are a sleeping-in person you might wanna make sure that you are sleeping in a room where sunshine is not shining into your window.
-Keep looking at the clock so you know what time it is

Marketing day 2 😊

Kia Ora friends. Welcome back to my blog. Yesterday was the marketing day for Hornby high school. It was really fun and really cool these aren't the only 2 words I can use to describe the day. IT was boiling hot and really sunny. I had so much fun creating and selling our product. Our product was a tie-dye face mask. We sewed the mask ourselves using cotton and leftover fabric from the technology room. We also used ribbons from the tec room. After sewing 12 of our masks we made a decision to tie-dye them.

We used so many colors and it was really fun although I still have stains of dye on my hands. I recommend wearing gloves before dyeing something. We left the mask overnight to dry. The next morning came by, we turned up to where to placed our products to dry and they were gone. We then asked Miss Lackock {our teacher} where they went. No one knew where they were. A few minutes of looking around took our time and we found it in the bin. Apparently, the cleaner put them in there.

We then dried them out and quickly set up our table. We have a large mask and small mask we sold the small mask for $2.00 each and the large for $5.00 each. We then changed our prices to $2.00 each. We sold out in not that long. We all got some goodies from the market day. I am proud that we made $15.00 and our profit which was $27. It was a long day and were still able to go through it. I really enjoyed taking a looking around and buying some products for myself. It cost us $8.00 to make our products. The only things we got to pay for was the cotton and we got most of our matirels for no price.

Marketing day

Kia Ora, Bula vinaka, hola, ni hao. Welcome back to my blog hope you have had a great week. The past few weeks have been really busy for me and my group. Some of you might be confused and some might know what's up. Every year Hornby high as a school works together as a school on a huge project. HHS has this project where the students make a product and sell their products a few days after they have been finished. So we make our own DIY products and sell it on market day.

We all know that starting a business is going to be tough and really hard. Never give up on keep pushing through. You will get there. Albert Einstein once said, "if you want to live a happy life, tie it to a goal, not to people or things". Growing up we all learn new things and we need to take baby steps, from your first steps to your first words and it goes on.  When you begin a business we all need to take baby steps. We started with a business plan.

Our products were tie-dye mask. We made the mask ourselves selfs and we also had to tie-dye them. I am going to say that we are not the best group at the tie-dyeing and the mask making. I am really proud of what we have created and that I have had a lot of time to learn how to make a mask and tie-dye. I am also proud that I get to bond with my friends. Lavanda and Christina. I don't get that much time with both of them that much. Mack sure to appreciate and love your friends or family before they are gone.

Would you buy one for $5?

Hurumanu 4 Term 3

Kia Ora friends. Welcome back to my blog. I hope you have all had a great day and a great week.  It has been a while since I posted a blog post. It is almost term 4 and time is going so fast. It is now week 8 and we have done so much over the term. We started off with writing a story based on heroes and villains. We first figured out our conclusion, resolution, and problem. We also needed characters of course and a setting. I have enjoyed writing, drawing, and describing my story. I have thought more creative and sharp writing my story.

My story is based on a young teenage boy who moved to a new part of his country with his family. He also starts at a new school and meets nice friends. Most of the school building is abandoned and has been abandoned since the 18th century. It was first a all boys school. He then discovers Dr Black {the villain} hideout in the school. I don't wanna spoil it that far. I am proud of my capital letters and my punctuation.

Astro - Google Docs

I have also worked on the drawing of my villain. I drew something I did not imagine or picture in  my head.
I am not that skilled at drawing. So this is what I drew of my villan. I have also been working on my setting. I drew the street that is leading to the school. My drawing is not the best.

What I expected:

                            Class Compliments

Kia Ora friends welcome back to my blog. I hope you have had a great week. Our task today was to read the compliments we were given by our classmates and teacher. I was so excited about this task. I never thought that I would get this much compliments in a hour. I feel so appreciated, loved, happy, surprised, respected, amazing, and many more. By reading the compliments I was really surprised that people could see who I really am and that I could realize who I am around them.

Kia Ora friends. Thanks for coming back to my blog. I hope you have had a great day. Today 10 years ago. The king of pop sadly passed away. At thy age of 50, he lost his life from cardiac arrest. Cardiac arrest is a sudden loss of blood flow resulting in the failure of the heart.

I am just really sad that he lost his life a year before I was born. I have been doing a lot of research on him. May he rest in peace.  I am such a big fan of you. We all love your music. Till this day we still listen to your music. Thank you for your lovely music. I love listing to his music when I am down.

Our final results...

Bula welcome back to my blog. I hope you have had a great day. Yesterday was our day to taste our biltong. I was really surprised by the taste. I added so much salt and sugar. I also added onion salt. At first, I felt the biltong and it turned out to be really hard. I tried ripping it apart and it sounded like I was riping cardboard. My biltong tasted really salty. After I tried it out my through went dry.

What I would change:
*Maybe add less salt
*Add a little more sugar

My aim:
My aim was to get salt into the meat so that I would be able to taste the juice and give it more protein.

The results:
When I finally put my mouth into the meat I tasted raw meat.
But it is safe to eat raw meat.
It was really salty.

Thank you for taking the time to read my blog. Keep washing your hands and have a great day.

Making biltongs day 1

Konichiwa friends welcome back to my blog. I hope you have had a great day. Today in science our class has been planning to do a experiment on how to make biltong but we had to hang it up and wait for results, we were given 3 days.

We first learned how to write instructional writing. Our next step was to pop down our recipe. Some of us may have copied and passed recipes from the web. I wanted mine to have that flavor. We were given sugar and salt to place on our stripe of meat. I learned that an adult should be cutting the meat so that we don't get blood poisoned.

 Ingredients:
*Onion salt
*Sugar
*salt
*Meat

Materials:
* 2 Tissue papers
*Peg
*String

Instructions:
*Get all your equipment.
*Get an adult to cut meat into strips.
*Place meat on tissue paper
*Combine sugar and salt into a mixture.
*Sprinkle a pinch of the mixture onto your stripe of meat.
*Fleep meat over the side and sprinkle mixture on that side.
*Beat the meat on both sides until the mixture blends out.
*Sprinkle onion salt on meat and beat meat till salt blend.
*Tie a string on and hang up using a  peg.
*Hang up for 3 days straight.

Results:
After a few hours hanging out at room temperature, the results come back as dry and hard. My meat shrank and the flavors are starting to show out of the meat. It was really fast for it to dry up that fast. I was really surprised by the results in 24 hours.
Most of the students used only a mixture of sugar and salt. They are bacteria everywhere. Salt can do the job by killing all the bacteria in the meat. Salt can do many things that we have not known. This way this will be safer for you to eat.
Thank you for reading my blog. Keep washing your hands and sneezing and coughing into your elbow. Thank you. Have a great week.

Health changes

Morena friends. Welcome back to my blog. I hope you guys have had a marvelous day. Our task today was to find out how much sugar they are in a product. In a product on the sticker, they can be a lot of information about the product such as fat, sugar,  expiry date, and many more. Some products show the ingredients. Most products have their first ingredients as one of the most likely to be in the product.

In the baked beans can the first ingredient would be beans. On a product, they are a rating of how healthy this product is. Some products will have a star and the colored stars would say how healthy they are. Some products might not have any. Any food products that you eat on a daily bases may have more sugar then you expect. A small can of milo can be lots of sugar. They are 22% of sugar in a small can of milo.

They can be different things that you eat or drink and don't know what the ingredients are.  They are many commercials that are advertising about food. You may watch the milo ad and wonder that milo does not have that much sugar and it will give you energy throughout the day. So be careful about what you are eating or drinking.

Today I also learned that dark chocolate is good for you. Some people believe that any chocolate is not that good for you. Dark chocolate has 50 to 90% of solid cocoa. So maybe try looking at the percent of cocoa.
Thank you for reading my blog and hope you now know what to do when you come across a problem like this. Have a great week keep washing your hands and sneezing and coughing into your elbow.

Word art

Kia Ora friends welcome back to my blog. I hope you have had a great week. Today our task was to make a word art that was about our lockdown. Word art is a cloud of words of your choice. This included words that you would use or maybe did during the lockdown. For example Baking, Online school, and more.

Here are the words that I used in my word art:

*Family

*Lockdown

*Baking

*Games

*Netflix

*YouTube

*Dance

*Walks

*Cakes

*Sleeping in

*Staying up late

*Zoom

This is also how it turned out
I did some words in different colors so that it would stand out because that is what we did most of the time. It was really fun during lockdown but at the same time I was also missing being in the environment with a lot of students and teachers. Comment what you did during the lockdown. We made this so we could look back onto what we have done during the lockdown.

Some of us may still do what we have done in lockdown. I would go for walks. How about you?.  Here is the link to word art you should go check it out

I hope you enjoyed it. Try out the link it's pretty cool. Comment how you did.
Thank's for reading my blog.

The pandemic

Kia Ora everyone, welcome back to my blog. I hope you are having a wonderful day. I have had a wonderful day seeing my best friends. It has been 4 weeks since we have been stuck in lockdown according to the pandemic. Today I read about the pandemic in 1918. A lot of historic things happen in the 18's and 19's.

Some historic things that happened:

*World war 1

*World war 2

*Apollo

*And many other wars

The 1918 influenza pandemic was the most severe pandemic in recent history. It was caused by the H1N1 virus with genes of avian origin. At first, soldiers who were fighting in world 1 were feeling the failure of the systems according to their exhaustion of fighting.

This virus also traveled really fast within the globe. Thes was also spread by soldiers traveling from North America to Europe in the early 19s. By mid-year, the virus had reached the Southern Hemisphere.  The death rate kept growing. The flu then reached the big cities of Europe and North America by August and soon people were dying in South Africa, Japan, China, Peru, Greece, and Italy.

This virus also spread worldwide. This virus was known as the Spanish flu. The Spanish flu killed 500 million people in the Spanish flu. By December 1918 the virus spread through New Zealand. So many people and kids died from this deadly flu and so much will be remembered.

People suffered bloody noses and other organ problems. The flu heat New Zealand at thy end of World war 1. When the third of the country's doctors and nurses served overseas.  Those staff who were in New Zealand were often the first to get ill. So untrained volunteers had to take the risk. Other people drove their cars makeshift ambulance or built coffins for the dead.

Thank you for reading my blog. I would say you should properly search up about the pandemic in 1918.  Keep safe and keep smiling ❤

Reading Week 5

Hello there.Welcome back to my blog. I hope you enjoyed your weekend.  Today I have read the book that I chose to read for week 5 reading. My book was called Fangs and the book was illustrated by Fraser Williamson.

This book is about two best friends named Madeline and Lydia. Madeline is a vampire and some sometimes feel left out. One day they were unpacking a box that was left in Lydia's basement for almost 2 centuries old. The box was fueled with nothing that valuable. Meanwhile, Lydia's little brother Zac was so excited about a fair that was happening on the next day.

Zac asked his dad if he would come with him to the fair. Unfortunately, dad could not accept the invitation according to work. Meanwhile, Madeline and Lydia were free tomorrow and would accept the invitation. Zac was upset that his dad was not able to go with him.

On the next day, they arrived at the fair. They were very excited to go on every ride. They started on the Ferris wheel the mirror maze was not that fun for Madeline. She really did enjoy the Ferris wheel. When Madeline and Lydia went to get candy floss there turned around to find Zac gone.  Lydia was so scared that she would get yelled at by her dad. Lydia checked at the Ferris wheel first.

At first, Madeline knew where he was so she hurried there. She first thought that he was going to be eaten by a vampire. She grabbed a broomstick that was behind the door. Zac was stuck in the haunted palace.  Madeline hurried towards him. When the vampire yelled that this was his summer job and he is just saving up for college.

The vampire released Zac and they went back to Lydia. Lydia's chicks were as red as a tomato. She was so mad.  Eventually, they got to finish riding the other rides.

The link down below is my DLO this has some info about Fangs.

Math week 4

Kia Ora friends.Welcome back to my blog. Today my blog post is based on the math that I was given for this week. Math is one of the most fun subjects that I have learned. Math can be hard but it's about challenging yourself.

My challenge for this week was to come up with a menu for 2 kids and 2 adults. That means making a shopping list for there daily meals, totaling the total, and also including the recipe. Also, the budget was $200 my total would be $190.81 so close to the budget.

We also had to Multiply, Subtract, and more. We had to come up with the total for every meal. On our google meet for week 2 miss, Allan asked us "what does make end meet mean?. You must be asking the same question. Making ends mee means having enough money to survive.
We were also given the options where we stand on our level in math. For example beginners, experts, mediums. Each level represents much of the work and how easy the work we are given. I chose to do medium because I thought that I would be able to learn and answer at the same time.

We also learned how to work with fractions and how to add and subtract with the same denominator. This is a good task for using cups in recipes. Now I know how parents really do struggle with groceries.

Thank you for reading my blog keep safe and keep smiling.😁😁 https://docs.google.com/document/d/1A5-4ZxBc7-Ka8OHrir7qziBSS0YX1s44vSvwCXCqaMM/edit?usp=sharing

My writting

Hello everyone, welcome back to my blog. Today I have finally finished with my writing. The story is about a treasure hunt and the four good friends who became best friends. They are a complication, orientation, and resolution.

The orientation setting will be in Angle vile high school and that will be different places around the school. The characters are Ava, Amilia, Mia, Seth, Lucas, Noah, and Drax.
Drax would be the father of Seth. Drax and Seth are partners in crime. They go to every town to steal their historic treasures. A few years ago Drax's great grandad was a student at the  Angle Ville high school. And tried his best to find the treasure that was a huge history in his day's and it still is now.

Mia and her friends Amilia, Lucas, and Ava have to get it before he does so that he does not steal it to themselves.  At thy end, they do get the treasure, and here is the link to my writing. Thank you for reading my blog.

The bad case of stripes

Hi there. Welcome back to my blog.  Today I have recently finished my reading. And I read the book called the bad case of stripes. This story is about a girl who was so afraid of being left out that she pretended to not like the things that kids at school hated, lima beans. But she loved lima beans. Most kids hate eating their vegas. Well, we all should learn how to be thank full for what we have in front of us. I love veggies.
Camila is her name. On the first day of school, she was really nervous and scared that someone might find out her secret. She tried out 42 outfits to find the perfect one. She picked out a red dress looking into the mirror. That dress is as pretty as a rainbow. In a blink of an eye, she started to turn into strips, not like a zebra, not like a tiger but like...
Yep. Her mom put her to bed and called her doctor. The doctors couldn't find the cure. So they called the experts no one seemed to find the cure and Camila got even more depressed. They tried everything but nothing worked. The next day she went to school and kids would call her lollipop girl. Every time she hears that she changes into different shades.  Finally, they found the cure for Camila's strips and it was lima beans at first she did not wanna expose her secret but she did. In a few minutes, the strips started to disappear.

That's a few parts of the story I hope you enjoyed. Also, we were told to do a activity. So I chose to do a word could and here it is.
I made mine into stripes so that it can represent Camila. Thank you for reading my blog. Keep safe and be kind.❤❤

Narrative writting

Bula welcome back to my blog. Today I will be blogging about the work that we were given. I hope you are safe, stay safe, wash your hands, and remember to stay 2 meters away from anyone outside of your bubble.

Narrative writing is writing that has a story, characters, conflict, and other essential parts of a story. This week the year 7s and 8s were given math, writing, and reading, for some of us reading was pretty easy. I chose to do an adventure story because I wanna be creative with my work. And I need to improve my spelling and my punctuation.

I have planned out my story also my characters this was really fun.
We are writing the next blockbuster script. Every narrative writing needs a orientation, complication, sequence of events, and also a resolution.

We also have to use the figure of speech, for those who don't know
the figure of speech is the speech that goes beyond the original literal meaning of words in order to supply new effects or a fresh approach into an idea or a subject.

Example: If a person says that he is 'starving', he does not mean he is in fact dying of hunger, but that he is very hungry.
Thank you for reading my blog, stay safe, go read all my blog post if you would love to. Be kind❤❤
